Te Tari Tūtai

An action comedy about secret agents, entirely in te reo Māori

A cartoon car chase with wacky characters

In the city of Te Paehana, the only thing standing between order and chaos is Te Tari Tūtai, the leading spy agency in Aotearoa. As their two top agents track down a druglord known as Te Kaihoko, they must look within themselves to face their greatest adversary of all - their own incompetence.

TE KAUPAPA
THE POINT

Ko te amorangi ki mua, ko te hāpai ō ki muri: The leader at the front, the workers behind the scenes.

This whakataukī is in reference to the marae; whether you are standing to whaikōrero, or in the kitchen preparing the hākari, everyone is equally important in progressing the kaupapa. In the overall efforts to revitalise te reo Māori, Te Tari Tūtai plays its own specific role.

For many people, the most daunting barrier to overcome in their reo journey is the steep climb from beginner to conversational. This is made harder for those who cannot study full-time or learn at their kāinga. Te Tari Tūtai is a chance to practice your reo in a way that is entertaining and accessible.
